Ark Prepares for HWY 56 Sales Scramble’s 2nd Year
Starting Thursday, April 23 and running through Sunday, April 26, residents of towns along or adjacent to Highway 56 can sign up for the Ark’s famous Hwy 56 Sales Scramble. This runs 200 miles—from Kinsley to Council Grove.
“This event is cool because you feel like you’re making a difference in others’ lives,” says Ben Coffey, owner of the Ark in McPherson. “Times are tough, and it’s great to feel like we had a part in promoting more financial success for small businesses.”
Ben Coffey grew up going to different garage sales with his family, and he discovered that Highway 56 didn’t have anything exciting to attend along its route. This inspired the creation of the Hwy 56 Scramble.
“Go at your own pace to whatever towns you want,” Coffey says regarding how the event works. “This is a great way to bring in out-of-towners to the community and support local mom and pop businesses, especially.”
Each person running their garage sale at the Hwy 56 Scramble can sign up for $10 at www.hwy56sales.com and set their own hours. It is a flexible, enjoyable time for hardworking families and business owners. Customers will find odds and ends of all kinds, including clothing, antiques, collectibles, and all sorts of fun treasures.
The Ark takes care of logistics and marketing. This event has been marketed in the Best of KS printed and delivered to doors across KS, two postcard mailing campaigns to businesses and civic leaders on the path, yard signs, multiple radio stations, and on Facebook.
Treat yourself to a leisurely four days of fun with us and support your local businesses at our HWY 56 Scramble.
The deadline to secure a yard sign with a registration was 4-17, but folks can still sign up to advertise their sale or their business through the weekend of the sale. We support procrastinators! :) www.hwy56sales.com
